- Francois de La Rochefoucauld
After reading this quote on a friends page it made me think about things I hadn't before. It is funny how true this quote can be. We all do it. We try to make our selfs fit in with others and then change ourselves to their liking, not ours.We try to change ourselves for many people parents, teachers, friends, and other family, even the people you pass on the way to school or work. Would you have left the door open for the person behind you if someone had not influenced you into doing that?
This made me wonder what if I had no ties to anyone in the world, i was isolated and alone. Would I then be me? But why do we try and change ourselves if everyone else is doing the same? If everyone didn't try to 'disguise' themselves what would the world be like? Would no one fit in to certain groups and everyone left alone or would it all just 'click', in some unexplainable way. And if it did just click would their be world peace? And would everyone get along? Is it too late now for this kind of society to function? Can people just stop hiding the real them and bring themselves out from the disguise? Sadly my friends I believe that it is too late, we have all been influenced by someone else, who has been influenced by someone else again, and for now this cycle goes back too far so that we cannot move forward without going backwards. But we an try can't we?
Because this is what goes on in my head,
